Duplicate attachments on a character act as "body doubles", but if you can only play duplicates on unique characters, then does this card work only on unique characters? Since Palace Guard are non-unique characters then duplicates played on them mean nothing. Or am I completely mistaken? |

You're not completely mistaken so much as overthinking in my opinion. I see this as a case where the card text is directly contradicting the rules about duplicates only being played on unique cards and only saving unique cards, so the card text wins out and it works the way you think it should. So yeah, this card would allow you to discard face-downs from Palace Guard to save him.
If you are concerned about the "play duplicates on unique cards you control" rule, remember that you are not playing any dupes on the non-unique and that dupes, once in play, are not considered attachments, so are not subject to the same "attachment conditions always met" rules as attachments. |
