| Question: |
If my opponent plays Swayed by the Light on a character of mine, who already has Lightbringer attached, can he then attach an additional Lightbringer to the character? If so, does he receive bonuses from both? If I remove the Swayed, would I then receive bonuses from his Lightbringer also? |
| |
| Answer: |
Yes. The rules on uniqueness say that you cannot play a copy of a unique card in play that you control or own. Your opponent neither controls nor owns the copy of Lightbringer on the character he (now) controls, so he is free to play his own copy. |

| Question: |
When I play a duplicate of a unique character from my hand, does that trigger effects that kick in "after a character comes into play"?
If I have a uniqe character in play and somehow another copy of that character comes into play from my discard or dead pile, does this new copy become a duplicate of that character?
In this case, does this trigger effects that are triggered "after a character comes into play"? |
| |
| Answer: |
When a card effect "puts into play" a copy of a unique character that you already have in play, the second copy indeed comes into play as a duplicate.
However, when you play or put into play a duplicate, you are considered to be putting in a textless, titleless, traitless card. More to the point, when you duplicate a character (by playing or putting into play another copy), you are considered to have played/put into play a DUPLICATE, not another copy of that card. As such, any effect that triggers off of playing/putting into play that card or card type CANNOT be used.
For example, if you dupe Littlefinger, you cannot trigger his Response text. |

| Question: |
According to the (v3.4) part it would seem that I cannot use A Hostage Rescued on a unique character because it is "Put into play a character that is in my dead pile" or am I wrong? |
| |
| Answer: |
Since you are taking that unique character OUT of the dead pile as part of putting it into play, you are okay to use A Hostage Rescued on the unique character. The event lets you specifically target the card in the dead pile and it won't be in the dead pile by the time the effect resolves, so the rules on unique aren't really violated. |

| Question: |
What happens to a duplicate of a non-unique character? Imagine I played First Ranger on a non-unique character and then duped it. After that my opponent discards the First Ranger. Is the duplicate gone now? Can I still use it? |
| |
| Answer: |
The question was brought up in relation to Inner Chambers, which makes face-downs count as duplicates. FFG says you can choose a non-unique for that effect and discard the face-down attachments as dupes to save the non-unique character.
Following that ruling, so long as the duplicate was put into play on a non-unique character legally, you can still use it for a save |

| Question: |
Let's say my opponent plays Ygritte and takes control of my Jon Snow. If next turn I also play Ygritte, can I take back the control of my own Jon?
The rule says:
"You may not (...) take control of a unique card already in play that you own or control."
I already own this Jon, so do I violate this rule if I try to take back its control? |
| |
| Answer: |
That might be a bit too literal. The rules of unique really only apply when you are looking at two separate card. You can take your Jon back because the target is the same as the "already own or control." You're not volating the rules of unique when dealing with a single copy of the card. |

I've seen that according to new faq dupe is gained response ability
Is it possible to to cancel that with prince's loyalist/expandable ally assuming that bearer is not immune to character abilities or triggered effects? |
| |
| Answer: |
Yes.
Because a dupe's save is treated as a gained "Response" character ability, it can be cancelled by appropriate means.
Note that, as with all gained abilities, blanking the character does not take away the gained ability. |

| Question: |
If I would have a deck with both the ITE Brienne (Sta & Bar) and the 5KE Brienne (only Bar) in it, could I use the 5KE Brienne as a duplicate for the ITE Brienne as "only Stark" player? And if so, what would be the gold cost of doing so? (0 or 2?) |
| |
| Answer: |
The rules say that you can only have three copies of any card in your deck as determined by the title. So as far as deckbuilding goes, the ITE-Brienne (Stark/Bara) and the 5KE-Brienne (Bara only) count as the same card. Since the duplicate rule says you can dupe a unique character with another COPY of that card, House affiliation is not considered when you are playing duplicates.
So yes, you can use the 5KE-Brienne as a duplicate for the ITE-Brienne.
Duplicates are always put into play at no cost. You do not pay gold penalties on them. So in a Stark deck, you would still pay 0 if you used the 5KE-Brienne as a duplicate for an ITE-Brienne that is already in play. (Of course, if you tried to play the 5KE-Brienne as a character instead of as a duplicate, you would have to pay the gold penalty.) |

| Question: |
If i play with duplicate of different edition, and i have to kill a character, can I choose the duplicate i kill to use the other ability or i consider i have just one card, even there's different abilities |
| |
| Answer: |
Cards are identified by title. So if you have a card named "Eddard Stark" in your dead pile, you cannot play another card named "Eddard Stark," even though it may be a different version.
If you have different versions in your deck, whichever one you play first is the active version. You cannot change versions (unless the first one leaves play without being killed so that you can play a second version free and clear). If you dupe the active card with a different version, the one you played as a dupe is the only one that can be used for the save. You cannot discard the active version for a save, thus "changing" the active version |
