Assume there is a character that is Deathbound and his text box is blanked by an effect (like Fortified Position or Banished). What if this character gets discarded... does the blanking still affect him when he heads for the discard pile? |

Yes. If "Deathbound" is blanked, the card will go to the discard pile instead of the dead pile when discarded. You don't even have to use a hypothetical "Deathbound" character; just put Frozen Solid on a Deathbound location. |

If a Deathbound event gets cancelled, where do they end up? Still dead, or discarded? |

Remember that with events, there is a time (Step 1) when they are neither in your hand nor in your discard pile (look at the resolution of such things as Forever Listening and The Only Game That Matters for confirmation on that). So there is a point after the event's resolution (in Step 3) where you would consider them as having "destination(discard)" (which would be replaced by "destination(dead)" for Deathbound events) even without actually becoming moribund. Now, as for cancelling the event cancelling "Deathbound," too, this is not the case. It comes down to this: Since "Deathbound" is a replacement effect that doesn't kick in until you decide where the event goes after its resolution (not something that initiates in Step 1 when it is played), cancelling the effect of the event does not also cancel the effect of "Deathbound." Bottom line, you "played" the event even if it is cancelled, so "Deathbound" still sends it to the dead pile. |
